Update! Tyl is no longer active, but the music lives on. Tyl was born in 1994 due to a common love for music. Per Brekke, Jonny Sletten, Tom Rune Daae and Tom Eddie Borge made the first lineup. We started making songs and covering songs from bands that we where into at that time. Bands like Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilotes, Alice in Chains, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, Foo Fighters, Toto, Iron Maiden, Faith No More, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, just to mention a few.... These influences can be heard in the music we make we hope. We still sound like Tyl, with a grung, slightly metal, abit 70`s feel to it! Tyl recorded a demo record in 1996 with 6 self made songs. Being in the studio was so much fun that we did it again in 1997 and recorded the song/single "Childish" We went back in 1998 to record "Even Happened". We have since the begining in 1994 parted ways with our first drummer Tom Rune Daae. Our second drummer Erik Hopen had to move from Bergen and left us as a trio for a little while, while the search for a new drummer went on. Tyl now has the exellent Zsolt Meszaros (Mads Eriksen og ex Manfred Mann's Earth Band singer Chris Thompson) on the drums. Zsolt came in contact with the band when we asked him to put down the drums on our album. After a few sessions in a recording studio Zsolt became a permanent member of the band. Tyl as a band has never felt this great and we are recording song after song that will go on our forthcoming (not yet titled) first album. So many songs infact that we have enough material for several albums! We are recording new songs and ideas every time we enter the studio. We are able to do this because we made the decision to build our own record studio in Bergen.
